[Steve has a whole rebuttal planned before he meets Tony's eyes. Yeah... puppy eyes. He is crumbling like an old cookie. (And how often does Tony ask this nicely for anything? He feels like he should say yes for the effort alone.)] Okay, okay. Stop looking at me like that. I feel like I kicked you.

[He kicks off his shoes before getting out of the chair and into bed. He'd consider sleeping in them most nights if not for the fact he's positive Tony will find that crazy.]

[ he's right to respect the effort, honestly, and tony watches him go with a small twinge in his chest. like he did the right thing, maybe, it's hard to be sure what it means. ]

[ tony gives the bot a pointed look as he goes around smothering candles delicately with his pincers before eventually whirring to a halt at steve's bedside. after a moment of what seems like hesitation, he clamps onto the blanket and draws it up around the man's chin. yes, a robot just tucked you in son. it's all he can do not to roll his eyes, kicking off his own shoes so he can at least lay in bed and stare at the ceiling for a while. inevitably, it'll drive him insane, but he also knows pacing around the room will keep steve up, so. compromise is healthy, right? ]

Okay. Stop staring at the Captain so he can get his shut-eye. No- get out of here. Don't stare at me either. Who taught you manners? Oh, that's right, it was me. Go face the wall.

[ he points before shifting in his bed and turning over to face the window with a big yawn. okay, maybe he'll take a nap too. ]

[That is by far the kindest thing anyone has done for him in ages. Steve smiles fondly at the bot and notes,] You're a good kid.

[He has to chuckle at the rest even if his eyes fall shut.] Goodnight, Tony. Night, kids.

[Steve will be out like a light. He really is that sick.]
